Hyperhearse

A clone of the Suhr Riot Reloaded built up the Disarray circuit board from PedalPCB.

My submission in the “None More Black” competition. Black text on black enclosure. Black switches, black knobs. Really bad for the eyes.

Marketing material sez: Riot Reloaded is a versatile distortion pedal that delivers a broad spectrum of Hi-Gain tones, with an amp-like feel, in a compact stompbox.

The original Riot was the first “Marshall Stack in a Box” I’d heard demoed on YT and immediately had to have one, i.e. build one.

I breadboarded a few iterations over the years on self-etched boards, including one with only asymmetric LED clipping that lit up a light plate below the board. Since it was a wiring and hot glue mess in a box, I settled on the PedalPCB version. When the “Reloaded” version came out with “30% more gain,” I had to have that: because “this one goes to 11.” 

“HyperHearse” is a reference to hijacking a ship from the parking garage in “The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.”
